Google Celebrates The 76th Independence Day of Pakistan

Google commemorated Pakistan’s Independence Day with a special doodle artwork portraying the Indus River Dolphin, a type of toothed whale endemic to Pakistan.

Today’s doodle commemorates Pakistan’s Independence Day in 2023! After nearly 200 years of British rule, Pakistan attained independence on this day in 1947 and became an independent country.

On Independence Day, Pakistanis all throughout the country raise their national flag and sing the national song. The main festivities are held in Islamabad, where the President and Prime Minister give motivational speeches on national heroes, recent accomplishments, and future goals. The Parliament House, Supreme Court, Presidency, and other important government buildings are decked with bright lights and colors. The public can also attend fireworks displays and musical concerts.

Today’s doodle artwork features the Indus River Dolphin, a toothed whale that is only found in Pakistan. This endangered species, also known as Bhutan in Urdu and Sindhi, is particularly widespread along Pakistan’s beaches.

Furthermore, the booming spirit of Independence Day took a unique turn in Karachi, straying from convention and embracing a novel celebration.

The mesmerizing Freedom Horse Flag March saw participants of all ages ride on the back of a horse that represents progress, harmony, and national togetherness.

Following the Indian Independence Act of 1947, Muslim Indians desired their own independent nation-state, launching the Pakistan movement. The All-India Muslim League, led by Muhammad Ali Jinnah, led the movement.

The display of flags from Pakistan’s friendly neighbors, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey, Azerbaijan, and China, was a prominent feature of the Freedom Horse March.

These flags were proudly held by young horsemen and youngsters, representing Pakistan’s everlasting dedication to creating lasting friendships in both times of joy and adversity. Palestinian and Kashmiri flags were also displayed as a symbol of solidarity with the downtrodden all over the world.

The event, organized by the Zobi Mama Horse Riding Club, which is known for its contributions to youth development, redefined Pakistan’s 76th Independence Day celebrations. The march, which began at Clifton Three Sword Roundabout and ended at Drug Road via Avari Tower in Metropole, set a new atmosphere for the event.

The march’s visionary, Zubair Abul Hussain, stated that the inclusion of flags of friendly countries underscores the feeling that Pakistanis always remember their friends, especially during pleasant times.

He emphasized the critical need of recognizing the nations that have consistently backed Pakistan during difficult times. Aside from its symbolic significance, horseback riding reflected the idea that resilient and vibrant youth are the backbone of a strong Pakistan.
